Family
Elizabeth Schultz is a candidate for Fairfax County School Board Springfield District. She and her husband Brian of 20 years have four sons, three of whom are currently in Fairfax County public schools at Robinson Secondary, Clifton Elementary and Willow Springs Elementary.
As a mother of children who have IEPs, a 504, are in the Advanced Academic Placement (AAP/GT program) and in Special Education, Elizabeth is profoundly aware of the imperative to meet the varying educational needs of students, including the 'Twice Exceptional', and with the struggles parents face in accessing services and a curriculum to meet those needs.
As a family, the Schultz's are active in the Boy Scouts of America Troop 893 and in youth sports - football, soccer, basketball and lacrosse. The boys have been a part of both Burke and SYA athletics. Elizabeth and her family are parishioners at St. Andrew the Apostle in Clifton.
Advocate
Elizabeth is a proud Executive Board member on the Fairfax Education Coalition, a volunteer coalition of parents teachers and community members dedicated to strengthening public involvement with the School Board, monitoring actions of the FCPS administration and advocating for improved accountability transparency and community participation in the FCPS decision-making process.
Elizabeth has worked with a countywide network of parents to address the benefits of community-centered schools and has been a dedicated community voice for directing resources to the classroom, improved vision for building and renovating facilities, parental notification, discipline policy reform, citizen access and participation and open government compliance.
Leader
While founder of the Republican Women of Clifton one of the largest and most vibrant clubs in the Commonwealth, Elizabeth is also dedicated to bringing people who hold different views together to best serve the educational needs in our county and committed to authentic engagement with the public.
Elizabeth is actively involved in working with legislators in the Virginia General Assembly, local politicians and has testified before the Virginia State Senate, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and School Board. As a former Senior Manager of Contracts and Negotiation professional, she has served in the federal, nonprofit and private sectors for Fortune 200 companies and federal contractors in the areas of asset management, information technology and global education. She has also been an entrepreneur and small business owner/consultant.
Community
Raised in a military family, Elizabeth lived in Fairfax County frequently throughout her childhood, attending both parochial and Fairfax County Public Schools. She has been a resident in Northern Virginia for over 25 years, living in Chantilly, Fairfax, Centreville and now Clifton.
She has served on the Southwestern Youth Association (SYA) Executive Board for Lacrosse since 2008, has actively raised funds for community endeavours, including youth sports, families in need, Hurricane Katrina victims and INOVA Fairfax Hospital for Children and holds two degrees from James Madison University.
