Renovations, Facilities and Boundaries

Constant boundary changes lead to unpredictability for neighborhoods, stability of communities, parental involvement, home values, tax revenues and more.
County residents have expressed increasing desire for accountability of tax dollars which support the prioritization of school renovations - importantly legacy schools, such as the long neglected West Springfield High School, maintenance of facilities as appropriate to the School Board's and community's goals for delivery of education services and the commensurate tax structure and relationship with the Board of Supervisors - which transfers nearly 54% of the county's budget to FCPS for the public school system.
Committing to accelerating facility renovations, regularly scheduled maintenance and facility upgrades (similar to neighboring jurisdictions) and addressing priorities will benefit all stakeholders in FCPS, particularly students and teachers.
Innovation in renovations is an essential ingredient to addressing needs - including usage of design/build, collaborating with industry experts on safe and effective use of temporary facilities and committing to working with the individual needs of the diverse communities throughout the county.
